Alfarag Duty-Free Expands Flagship Presence at Bole Airport

KEYIR NEWS:- Alfarag Trading PLC, the first private duty-free operator in Ethiopia, has unveiled a refurbished flagship store at Bole International Airport, marking a significant expansion in the country’s travel retail landscape.

The 1,000sqm outlet, located at Terminal 1, was inaugurated on June 19, 2025, with the presence of aviation executives, diplomats, and retail industry figures. The launch ceremony included a ribbon-cutting, store tours, and a networking reception accompanied by a curated buffet.

Described by the company as a symbol of Ethiopia’s rising stature, the store is one of the largest in Africa. It was developed in collaboration with international design consultants and showcases a curated selection of fragrances, beauty products, luxury accessories, and confectionery.

Chairman and CEO Ayderus H.M. Farag hailed the opening as a “statement of possibility,” underscoring Alfarag’s 90-year legacy of raising commercial standards in Ethiopia. He noted that the store reflects the government’s broader efforts to modernise Addis Ababa and called for greater private sector participation in national transformation.

The launch is part of Alfarag’s ambition to position Ethiopia as a high-end retail destination, with the store intended to blend global sophistication with Ethiopian warmth and hospitality.
