Engineer Mendaye Yirga, CEO of Kaizen Institute, emphasized in his presentation of the Industry Leadership Capacity Building Program Research Document that a country’s industry becomes strong and competitive when it focuses on innovation and technological advancement, skilled workforce, operational efficiency, a well-organized supply chain, customer-focused services, accessible markets, and adherence to international standards.
He stressed that the manufacturing sector plays a vital role in national development. That’s why the government is being urged to develop a fresh industrial policy to boost the overall ecosystem. Alongside the new policy, multiple strategies and programs are already being rolled out—many of which are starting to show promising results in strengthening the sector.
The main goal of the Industrial Leadership Capacity Building initiative, according to the CEO, is to help the private sector enhance productivity, adopt modern leadership practices, and produce world-class products through business-minded strategies and culture. The program also offers practical, step-by-step training for industries to build their capacity.
Over 150 industry leaders took part in the program—including 100 owners and managers from 50 different industries, along with other key stakeholders.
In the final session, industrial investors shared the challenges they’re facing in the field, and senior sector leaders responded with feedback and potential solutions.
